Another versatile rose, Rosa 'Graham Thomas' is an English rose made available by David Austin. Similar to R. 'Sally Holmes', it can act like a climber if left on its own. However, I enjoy pruning it hard and seeing a prolific bloom in May. Slightly fragrant with buttery yellow flowers, it rarely suffers ailments affecting other roses, such as mildew and aphids. I try to bring in several blooms from the garden to enjoy indoors. It's a real keeper, so long as you are not expecting a traditional hybrid tea like form. The form is quite ruffled, reminding me of a peony, in clusters that are real show stoppers.
